Sao Joao
Hey all! This was another fantastic week for me and I hope you can all say the same thing!
To start things off, this week was São João. Technically, it's a catholic holiday, but at least here in Pernambuco it's just another excuse to party and eat a bunch of food, so definitely good times. The food is all based off of corn... so I've eaten tons of corn on the cob, corn cake, canjico (a sweet corn mush thingy), and this other stuff that's like rice pudding but with corn. It's been fantastic!! There have also been a ton of fireworks involved in the partying. But the funny thing is that, at least here, it's more firecrackers than actual fireworks and so all you hear all day is explosions. And with the cement house being so close together and the echo that results, I can honestly say that I feels like we're walking through a battle field lol. And with so many people traveling and/or partying, it's been a little hard to teach people this last week. But we did our best!
This week we worked a ton with Glauce, and older lady we've been teaching and she was baptized on Saturday! The chapel had some problems with water so the baptismal font wasn't quite as full as normal, but we made it work and the baptism went great!
We also spent a lot of time trying to find new people to teach this week. We spent a lot of time trying to find NTM's (nem todos são membros - not the whole family are members of the church) but it was kind of difficult with all the partying.
And this next week will be transfers again! I can believe it! I hope me and my companion get to stay together for one more transfer cuz it's going great!
Have a great week everyone! And until next time!
