Rain, Rain, and a Little More Rain

Image
Hey y'all!!  This week we started a new transfer and I headed to a new area. My new companion is Elder Tuckfield and he is awesome! I wasn't able to write last week because of some things we had to do to get ready for transfers, but the last week of that transfer was great. We were able to do a lot of service, and we taught a lot of the people we had found the week before. I'm a little sad to have left that area, just because there are so many amazing people there, but I am really loving it here! Now this last week has been absolutely crazy. For like a week straight it's been raining here in Recife, like a lot. On Wednesday, two other missionaries packed up their bags and headed over to our apartment to stay with us (for an indefinite amount of time) because their house gets completely flooded. Have 4 missionaries here has been a little crowded, but it's been pretty fun too.  Then I would say that the flooding and rain reached its peak on Saturday. Be still left o...

Finding God's Elect

Hey all!!  This week seemed like the longest week ever, but it was a really great week! We were able to find a lot of new people who are interested in learning more about the gospel! We found Guilherme and Mateus while they were playing basketball near our house. A bunch of the youth who will play soccer at the church on Saturday decided that they want to get to know the church more and said they will start coming to church on Sundays. Messias stopped us in the street one day and said that he knew some other missionaries and that he would like to be taught again. Jesuane (the sister of a member) and her husband Leandro accepted a visit, are supper interested to learn more and said they will come to church on Sunday. And the miracles go on! As much as it feels good to know that all of our efforts to find new people to teach are actually giving us results, the recognition that each of these people is a child of God  who we can help to make the sacred baptismal covenant is ...

When you have the desire, you find a way

Hey all!!  These last two weeks have been great! In addition to all the normal, we have had a couple of exchanges, and zone conference. All of which really helped me to think about how I can become a better missionary. These last two weeks we've been working really hard to find more people who we can teach. It's not always an easy process, there are plenty of people who don't have any interest in learning more, but something that has changed my outlook a little on life. I dont know every reason that people have for choosing not to accept a quick visit or phone call to talk about the gospel of Christ, but I think it comes down to two things. I think a lot of people feel very comfortable with their lives. They don't think they need more of Christ in their life because their lives are good. And I think other people don't think it's possible for them to change, or that their schedules or families or other situations make it to difficult to change.  But even if we...
