Hey all! This was another fantastic week for me and I hope you can all say the same thing! To start things off, this week was São João. Technically, it's a catholic holiday, but at least here in Pernambuco it's just another excuse to party and eat a bunch of food, so definitely good times. The food is all based off of corn... so I've eaten tons of corn on the cob, corn cake, canjico (a sweet corn mush thingy), and this other stuff that's like rice pudding but with corn. It's been fantastic!! There have also been a ton of fireworks involved in the partying. But the funny thing is that, at least here, it's more firecrackers than actual fireworks and so all you hear all day is explosions. And with the cement house being so close together and the echo that results, I can honestly say that I feels like we're walking through a battle field lol. And with so many people traveling and/or partying, it's been a little hard to teach people this last week. But we d...

Learning Tons

Hey all!! It's been two weeks since I last wrote... Last week I spent p-day with my whole district and my mission president and his assistants which was super fun but which left me with little time to write an email. We need to ask ourselves constantly where we are in our personal conversion and be ready and willing to strive every day to become more converted. And it's also vital that we remember to trust in the Lord throughout this process! He knows what we need to learn and how we need to learn it. So why not pr...

Quick Update

Hey all!! This week has been super long but super great! It has still been raining a lot, but at least here in my area it hasn't caused any problems.  This week we found a ton of new people to teach, and had a ton of amazing lessons. This Saturday we will have Ailtom's baptism and here in a few weeks Nicolas's as well!  This week was also Stake conference here and I loved the focus on preparation and how we can trust in the Lord to be prepared. Of course our preparation requires effort, but in the end, our confidence in the Lord adds up to much more than any of our efforts alone. I'm not going to have very much time to write today, but I am absolutely loving this area! There are so many people ready to learn and grow in the gospel of Jesus Christ! Until next week! Elder Hill
