Transfers!
Hey all!
Sorry that I wasn't able to send out an email last week. We tried to cramp too many things into one p-day and it just didn't end up happening. But the last two weeks have been sooo eventful!
First off, in the last two weeks we have had 3 baptisms!! I had one baptism the beginning of my first transfer, but these ones seemed a little more exciting because they were people that we found and taught not other missionaries. But that's not the important part. The important thing is that we were able to help 3 amazing youth receive the wonderful blessing of baptism and start in the wonderful journey of the gospel. Yudi and Lucas, who I have talked about before, were baptized last week. It is amazing to see their progress in such a short time especially as we have helped them to start using the church's youth program to set goals.
Then this week we were able to baptize Reinan! He is a wonderful little boy who always comes to church with a member across the street. He loves primary and participated in the primary program last month. And this week, his parents gave him permission to be baptized so he too was able to have that wonderful opportunity.
The last two weeks have been so full of work. It's been pretty much the normal, teaching lessons, finding new people, trying to help people to come to church and activities, and the normal missionary meetings and such. But the last two weeks I have become really close with Elder Souza. I am finally starting to understand and speak more Portuguese and every day is a new adventure with him. I am so grateful for everything he has taught me and it is crazy to think that I just finished my training.
Now about transfers... transfers are tomorrow, and yesterday I found out that I will be heading to a new area with another American who will show up this week! I don't know who it will be yet, but someone who has been serving in the US waiting for a Visa. I am super excited, but also a little terrified at the same time. As good as my Portuguese has gotten I definitely don't feel like I'm quite ready to become a senior companion and especially to teach another American how to survive in Brazil and speak Portuguese when I am still learning so much myself. But I know that this is the Lord's plan for me, and I know that I will learn so much from this experience! But definitely keep your eye out for my emails this transfer cuz I'm bound to have some crazy stories as I walk around Brazil with another new American.
Wish me luck. And that's about all I have today.
Elder Hill
