More Class and More Portuguese
Olá de novo!
First off, I guess my email last week didn't get sent to everyone I thought it did, but I think I got everything fixed. So sorry if you didn't get my email last week! If you didn't and would like me to resend it to you I would be happy to do that as well. And again if you know of anyone else who would like to receive these emails please let me know.
Now, where to begin. This week really flew by. The days have been long but the weeks have been fast, and it's crazy to think that I'm a third of the way done with the MTC. This week in terms of schedule was very similar to last week. Every day I've had several hours of class on zoom where I practice Portuguese, study the scriptures, practice teaching, and learn how to be a great missionary. Again the hardest part has been learning Portuguese. My instructors are starting to use less and less English as they teach us, and by the end of next week, all of my classes will be in Portuguese. I am at the point still where I barely understand what is being said, so a lot of my time is spent looking up words I don't know and asking my teacher to repeat words and phrases. But I'm learning a ton, and I know I'm going to continue learning with the help of the Lord.
This week was awesome because it was a spiritual high for sure. Every day as I have studied the words of prophets in the scriptures, prayed, and participated in uplifting and inspiring classes and workshops, I have felt nearer to God. It's also been really cool to be working so closely with so many other missionaries, who I am learning so much from. My busy days leave me exhausted every night, but I always go to bed excited for the next day and what I'm going to do and learn. It's been an incredible experience so far and it has taught me the importance of daily habits like studying the scriptures and praying.
The longer I have been here at the MTC, the more I have come to love my teachers and instructors too. Both of my normal teachers are hilarious and make learning over zoom fun. For example, when Brother Fabrizio sends us into breakout rooms to work, he will jump back and forth from room to room with his camera off to make sure we don't need help. Every once in a while though, he will turn on his camera for just a second while he's making a weird face, and then his video is off again. It is the funniest thing ever and has definitely interrupted a few conversations when everyone bursts out laughing.
I'm excited for this next week and all of the new things it has to offer. I am really loving the MTC so far and it has made me super excited to enter the mission field in 4 weeks. It has also helped me to become a better person already. Learning Portuguese is really hard, but I'm doing my best, and I know that with lots more work I'll eventually get the hang of it. I hope you all are doing well, and I send my love to all of you from Utah!
